FLORIDA SNOW

On a short trip via the back road to our local Walmart the other day, we passed by this field of cotton, and promptly coined it "Florida Snow". It's no secret around my house that I've been kinda..sorta, a little homesick for not just the fall season..the changing leaves and crisper weather from Indiana..but also a little homesick for some snow! Yes, you heard me right..a Floridian that is homesick for snow. I'm pretty sure all this homesickness is because of the fast upcoming holiday season. You can't go into a store any more these days without seeing all the Christmas decorations displayed and hear the soft and soothing sounds of the Christmas music. I think we say it every year, that the stores put things out earlier and earlier every year. But when it really comes down to it...I think I'm just homesick for the kids and grandkids, all of which still live up north.

I have been teased more times than I can count from the time I was a kid until my adult years for playing my favorite Christmas music in July! haha Perhaps it's the calmness and peace it brings to my heart. I've even changed my myspace layout to falling snow and Christmas music!

So, since this "Florida Snow" is the closest I'll get to snow this year..I thought I'd share it with you.

Those of you in the northern part of the country, already experiencing snow and colder weather..bundle up by the fire..grab a steaming cup of hot chocolate...and enjoy a moment for me!

As the world turns.....

The leaves are still here...

It was a welcomed relief yesterday to walk outside and enjoy Mother Nature's beauty. Outside where the quiet permeates the soul...bringing a quiet peace to the mind. I hear lately from my internet friends, that Old Man Winter has already taken up residency in their areas. But here in Mossy Pond on the ranch...Indian Summer is still with us. The leaves are still on the trees, flowers and (the pretty) weeds are still blooming. Just beautiful. Our nights are much cooler..making us grateful to not have to turn on the a/c..and the days are just warm enough and the breeze is just cool enough not to have it on during the day...wonderful!! Not just for me..but for our electric bill!

I think I have noticed more than usual the quietness of the outdoors because like every other American, we are glued to the TV regarding the upcoming, historical election that is upon us. We are engrossed, trying to figure out where the check will go in November..trying to get all the facts and weeding out the trash. And at times..it feels like a bubble is about to burst in the old brain! But really..if you don't listen and learn..how can you make an educated decision?

I started this post to be a political one..my views and opinions and decisions so far..but it just overwhelmed me and I thought better of it before I put fingers to the keyboard. That's not saying I won't post them in the future (because I plan to!)..but for now..yesterday and today..I am awestruck by the sights and sounds of Mother Nature.

(((sigh))))...Life is out there...see it, feel it, share it..live it! And don't forget...
GET OUT THERE...GET INFORMED...VOTE! ROCK THE VOTE!!!

My Pictures & Video..At the Beach

Picture Perfect Pets

Ok..so nothing is perfect...and surely not the photos of my pets..or my pets themselves...but pets do make one of the best subjects for taking pictures. Here are just a few of mine. And of course Flipper here is hardly my pet..but I had to include him..I was just so thrilled at seeing my first dolphin up close! lol

This is a picture I took a while back while we were taking a leisurely ride on a friends boat. Funny story there...I am deathly afraid of water (except for the pool in our yard), I'm in a lot of pain..but for those who experience chronic pain, KNOW..that you HAVE to do things in life..do them THROUGH the pain..or you feel you just aren't alive. That being said..this guy was the highlight of my day (heck..the highlight of a long time!)...and what a ham he appears to be!

OUR BELOVED CLEO..AKA..ALIEN HEAD!

Cleo came to me..oh, about 13 years ago. She is a rescue from our then local pound. She was just a kitten...but at the moment she was brought home..it was a very sad time for me, since I'd just a few days before, lost my best friend Reba (my beloved cat) to a neighborhood kid driving too fast in our little neig
hborhood. Oh no..it wasn't the kids fault..don't go sending me hate mail over that..lol..Cleo always knew better than to go near the road..but for some reason that day..she did..and in the blink of an eye..she was gone. Anyone who has owned a pet who is more like a child or best friend (all my pets are that way to me), knows how hard it is and it's usually not a great idea to replace that pet with another in a short time. Well..my husband..my dear sweet..just wanting me to stop crying..husband..went to the pound and brought home to me...CLEO. And OMG..she was so ugly!! I know...how could I say that! lol But she was! This scrawny, wierd colored and acting kitten! But let me tell you..lying in my bed..tears rolling down my cheeks...little Cleo strolled right up to me and licked my face..she was drying my tears! Oh how I do love my Cleo! But..no matter how much I love her (and I do), the fact remains..she looks like an Alien Head! haha She doesn't mind being teased about it..she loves us just the same. And now, at 13 years old..she's much slower..tends to choose a different "spot" to "be" every couple weeks or so (her spot now is in "her" chair next to me). Dear sweet Alien Head! Here she is..wondering why is Mom sticking that thing in my face!!! lol

Miss Mossy Pond Goes Digital

A lot of the blogs and websites, be it myspace or facebook or something I've stumbled across, seem to have a good time sharing the things that they photograph..and I'm no different. I'm in no way a professional photographer, but I do love to take pictures. After all..to me, pictures are memories captured for a lifetime. Memories to pass on, generation to generation. What a special gift that is.

I am unable to do a lot of things in this time in my life due to my disabilities, but thanks to the Good Lord, I can still hold a camera! I get such pleasure out of taking pictures of my pets, my flowers, mother nature..and I'm so thrilled when that pictures actually comes out good! lol

So, that being said..this is just a part of my blogging experience (yep, I'm still very new at that too), that I wanted to include and share. And though anyone is touched deeply by anyone who likes, and tells you they like your pictures...I do this for the pure pleasure it brings to me.

Happy Memory Making!
